The “One Health” webinar took place – the basics of the concept and opportunities for interaction

Students of the Public Health specialty and teachers of the department took part in an online webinar organized by the WHO Bureau in Ukraine with the support of the Center for Public Health of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (CHZ) and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection (State Production and Consumer Service) with the aim of increasing the level of awareness of students of veterinary and medical specialties about the “One Health” approach, as well as the level of communication between higher educational institutions of veterinary and medical specialties, which is an important element of the effective implementation of the specified approach.

The event took place on November 7, 2023 on the Zoom platform. At the beginning of the webinar, participants were welcomed by Pedro Gómez and WHO representative Ms. Lisa, who emphasized the importance of understanding the concept of “One Health”, since human health is closely related to healthy nature, environment and animal health.

The webinar consisted of two sections: Section I: International aspects of the implementation of the “One Health” approach and Section II: Implementation of the “One Health” approach in Ukraine.”

International colleagues from the European Regional Office of the WHO and the Office of the World Health Organization (WHO) in Ukraine were involved in conducting the first section and provided a clear understanding of the concept of One Health, the mechanisms of the relationship between nature, humans, and animals.

Anton Fabin and Mykhailo Tuyakhov, representatives of the Public Health Center of the Ministry of Health of Ukraine (CHS) and the State Service of Ukraine for Food Safety and Consumer Protection (Derzhprodspozhivsluzhba) described the areas of activity of the CSH in implementing the concept of One Health.
