Implementation of problem-oriented training at the Department of Public Health

At the Department of Public Health, as part of the study of the discipline of free choice of the Department of Public Health “Problem-oriented learning in the aspect of public health”, students solved a case on hearing loss. Upon completion of its solution – on October 23, 2023, the students visited the specialized clinic of the Smiyanovs. During the visit to the Smiyanov clinic, the clinic’s specialists familiarized the students with the method of conducting and interpreting the results of an audiogram, Rinne and Weber test, otoscopy, etc.
This subject is based on the methods of problem-based learning (PBL) and case-oriented learning. These teaching methods, during the implementation of a certain problem – a clinical case, act as a context and the main driving force for acquiring new knowledge and skills. In this case, all educational activities are concentrated around the solution of the task – making a diagnosis and developing a treatment algorithm for a virtual patient.
