Svitlana Piven took part in a strategic meeting from the Center for Public Initiatives “Intellect of Sumy Region”

On February 10, a strategic meeting of representatives of the government and think tanks was held within the framework of the project “Network of Gender Think Tanks: Capacity Building for Advanced Policy Development, Impact Assessment, Strategic Advocacy, and Specialized Communication Policies.” Eight analytical centers: Women’s Information and Advisory Center / WICC, Association of Women Lawyers of Ukraine “YurFem”, Cedos, Vox Ukraine, Bureau of Gender Strategies and Budgeting, Center for Public Initiatives “Intellect of Sumy Region”, Women in the media A legal hundred united to become part of the work on the way to Ukraine’s accession to the EU, to analyze and advocate for changes to Ukrainian legislation to take into account the interests and needs of all population groups. The Ukraine-EU summit confirmed that the future of Ukraine and its citizens is connected with the European Union, so work on the process of adapting Ukrainian legislation to EU law is already being intensified. Within the framework of the project, which is carried out with the financial support of the European Union in Ukraine, analytical centers will develop draft policies, recommendations, monitoring reports, and analytical documents aimed at supporting European integration using a gender approach. From the Representation of the European Union in Ukraine, the coordinator of the “Reform of public administration” Volodymyr Kondrachuk congratulated the participants. During the speech, he emphasized that this project is also important because it includes public organizations in the development and implementation of policies, that is, it makes NGOs subjects of this process, which contributes to the European integration of Ukraine. And the government commissioner for gender policy, Kateryna Levchenko, emphasized: “Gender policy is a principle of state policy that should be implemented everywhere.”
