On January 21, 2025, in cooperation with the USAID project “Building a Resilient Public Health System”, the Department’s faculty took part in the fifth in a series of webinars “Successful Management Solutions in Public Health”, organized jointly with the Philadelphia Public Health Association Project. The webinar was dedicated to the topic “Academic Partnerships for Improving Public Health Practice: Lessons Learned from COVID”. The event brought together researchers, practitioners, faculty, and students to discuss lessons learned during the COVID-19 pandemic and how they can be used to improve public health practice. Students majoring in Public Health who are members of the Department of Public Health’s scientific circle were able to join the event via an online broadcast on the Facebook page of the USAID project “Building a Resilient Public Health System”. The webinar addressed the following key issues: partnerships between academic institutions and practitioners contributed to an effective response to the challenges of the pandemic; successful cases of cooperation and their impact on community health; lessons learned during the pandemic can be used in the future to improve the public health system. The speaker of this webinar was Dr. Heather Klusaritz, Chief of the Division of Public Health in the Department of Family Medicine and Public Health, Director of Community Engagement at the Center for Public Health, and Director of Public Health at the University of Pennsylvania Medical Center for the Advancement of Health Equity.She is also a core faculty member of the Master of Public Health program at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine.
The event emphasized the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and knowledge sharing between academia and practitioners to create sustainable public health systems that can effectively respond to global challenges.
