Representatives of the Department of Public Health participated in a WHO international webinar on the impact of climate change on communicable diseases

On November 3, 2025, teachers from the Department of Public Health at Sumy State University and students from the Public Health educational program joined an international webinar organized by the World Health Organization (WHO) in Ukraine, dedicated to One Health Day. The event was held online on the Zoom platform and organized in collaboration with key international partners -the European Union (EU), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the World Organization for Animal Health (WOAH), and the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP).

The theme of the webinar, «Climate change and its impact on communicable diseases», is extremely relevant to global public health challenges and the need to strengthen cross-sectoral cooperation.

During the event, key issues were discussed:

  • the relationship between climate change and the emergence/re-emergence of transmissible infections;
  • current scientific data and trends in human health, animal health, and the environment;
  • International coordination and partnership mechanisms in countering infectious threats.

Participation in the webinar allowed students and faculty members to deepen their professional knowledge, gain access to current international practices, and join the global professional discourse within the framework of the One Health concept.

The Department of Public Health continues to actively implement international experience into the educational process, contributing to the train ing of competent specialists capable of effectively responding to modern challenges in the field of public health.
