PSYCHOLOGICAL SUPPORT OF THE COMMUNITIES OF SUMY REGION

 

In December, a three-day training “Model of psychological resilience of communities” took place. The training is conducted within the framework of the project “Providing psychosocial support services in the Sumy region”, which is implemented by employees of the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Sociocultural Technologies together with the Department of Public Health with the support of the International Organization for Migration (IOM).

24 representatives of the Sumy region from Okhtyrka, Sumy, Lebedyn, Shostka, Konotop, and Romny territorial communities took part in the training.

The training focuses on certain areas: the basics of providing psychological first aid: how, to whom, where psychological aid can be provided; the importance of understanding self-recovery and self-help; development of community resilience model skills. The event was organized by Svitlana Piven, associate professor of the Department of Public Health, and conducted by psychologists, teachers of the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Sociocultural Technologies, Daria Danilova, Kristina Sakhno, and Galina Ivchenko. Trainers actively used various psychological techniques and exercises to form understanding and skills of the community resilience model.
