On November 19, 2021 a memorandum on cooperation of Sumy State University and the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection was signed. The main idea was on implementation of the risk management procedure for public health protection in Ukraine. Oleksandra Berhylevych, Professor of the Department of Public Health, has been appointed as responsible for coordinating and cooperating on the issue.
On November 25, 2021, the First Strategic-Coordination Online Meeting on Integration of Risk-Oriented Concepts of the EU into risk management procedures in Ukraine took place. More than 200 participants from different regions of Ukraine were present, including professors Oleksandra Berhylevych and Viktoriia Kasyanchuk, who were selected by independent scientific experts of the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection for risk assessment in fields of hygiene, microbiology, chemistry and nutrition. At the meeting, reports from representatives of the European Commission, who have experience in implementing risk assessment and use of its results in the countries of the European Union, were presented. They detail explained the procedure of building a new sector in the State Service of Ukraine on Food Safety and Consumer Protection, called as “Risk Management”. The meeting was interesting and relevant.
