Meeting of the student scientific group Discussion of the topic “Human-animal interaction in the concept of one health”

On October 2, at a meeting of the student scientific group, the issue of the prevalence of priority zoonotic infections in Ukraine in 2024 was considered. The One Health concept envisions a collaborative approach at local, regional, national and global levels to achieve optimal health outcomes, recognizing the interconnectedness between people, animals, plants and their shared habitat. One Health challenges include emerging, resurgent and endemic zoonotic diseases, neglected tropical diseases, transmissible diseases, antimicrobial resistance, food safety, environmental pollution, climate change and other threats to human and animal health and the environment. Zoonotic diseases that are transmitted from animals to humans include brucellosis, tuberculosis, anthrax, and others, but given today’s realities, the problem with rabies has reached an unprecedented level. In the first half of this year, 1.6 more cases were registered compared to last year. This is due to the ban on hunting and the decrease in vaccination rates, both among wild and domestic animals. In Ukraine, as in other countries, September 28 is celebrated as “World Rabies Day”.
