On October 11, 2025, Sumy State University held an Open Day, which brought together dozens of applicants, parents, and anyone interested in learning more about the educational process and career opportunities in the field of medicine.
The Department of Public Health attracted particular attention, where participants were presented with areas of training for specialists and current research projects. The Department of Public Health aroused particular interest with its microbiology demonstrations: guests were shown the growth of microorganisms in Petri dishes, explained how they are grown in the laboratory, and given the opportunity to look into the micro world with the help of microscopes. Many saw bacterial colonies on a nutrient medium for the first time, and participants were able to see microorganisms under a microscope, learn about laboratory diagnostic methods, and learn about the role of microbiology in detecting pathogens. Students and faculty members eagerly answered questions from guests, conducted mini-experiments, and shared their own learning experiences.
The event created an atmosphere of openness, inspiration, and interest in the medical profession, and for many prospective students, it was the first step toward making an informed choice of profession.
