Attention! Results of the competition “Social Responsibility and Health”

In October 19 – November 24, 2021, the Department of Public Health held a competition “Social Responsibility and Health” within the framework of the World Bioethics Day 2021. The official closing ceremony took place during a binary online meeting by Departments of Public Health both from SSU and the Shupyk National Medical Academy of Postgraduate Education. Today, sometimes, the ethical framework of decision-making does not work in healthcare sector during  pandemic. Yet, obviously, that even in conditions of limited resources, access to health services should be equal. Bioethics turns its goal to social responsibility; now instead of “my health” we have to talk about “our health”. In the time of coronavirus threat, we nurture the basic principles of bioethics.

11 cool works were selected as part of the competition. Youth competition has united 11 teams of Ukrainian and foreign students from Sumy and Kyiv medical institutes. Poems, posters, cartoons, audio stories, video clips were presented for competition.

We hope that everyone who reads and listens to the poem will understand how we feel and how we want the world to become better.
  4. The audio story is “From a black woman named Kadisha.” Her story, is a history about prejudiced attitude of the doctor to patient and danger of living in such a society. Moreover, the team that created the story: Baieu Motundalayo Oluwafasesi, Ogbuti Sharon Ihechi, Farhin Md (MCm-819) insist that doctors should teach others about the negative impact of racism. This may be one of the elements of social responsibility in the field of professional development in the 21st century.
